Laura Biagiotti dedicates her Spring-Summer 2012 collection to Venice, which is not only a city that everyone admires, but is also a metaphysical place that one can’t help but love, a place that blends art and life and is a source of inspiration, just as Biagiotti fashion is a dream for women seeking distinctive elegance.
Venice renews an ever-present desire to allure and exceed boundaries. The clothes on the catwalk evoke contemporary femininity that interprets the great classics of romanticism (lace, ruffles, and flowers) in avant-garde compositions. Three-dimensional flowers adorn the embroidered corset, trimmed jacket, and accessories. Pop-glam Peggy sunglasses sport an oversized leather rose inspired by the eccentric models worn by Ms. Guggenheim.
Silhouettes are a fascinating union of two worlds: East meets West in the asymmetrical lengths of caftans and knit cardigans, in the winged sleeves of print dresses, in fringe, and in prints embellished with colorful large stones. The chiffon “Bambola- bouquet” dress and pastel roses are reminiscent of sunsets on the lagoon. The Venice print in shades of orange combines brocade motifs, scrolls, and old-fashioned lace on the menswear-style blazer, on jumpsuits with embroidered front, and on relaxed fit shorts worn with a knit pullover.
The color palette ranges from Laura White used for linen, shantung, and macramé to pastel hues such as peach, lilac, pink, and nude beige. A splash of fluorescent orange brightens the knit swimsuit, while the gold of St. Mark’s domes is reflected in romantic dresses. The one-shoulder festival dress with oversized ring in embroidered lace, the baby doll mini with cablestitching and gold macramé, and the Lido model with a sculpted bustier, precious filigree, stone embellishments, and long and short plissé panels are the quintessence of elegance.
Modern “dogaressas” choose knitwear for seduction. Laura’s impalpable knitwear is made of the finest silk, cashmere, and linen yarns blended with gold and silver threads. There is an array of stripes and cablestitching, and slim styles that hug the body alternate with fuller, flowing models. Venetian-style lace is the elixir of the collection for ultra-light skintight dresses worn with shapewear.
Sleek lines, glamorous decorations, and precious materials are the rule for summer 2012, and that is also the case for accessories. There is the basic shoulder bag with floral intarsia, the large and small tote bag with laser-cut patterns, and the soft unlined hobo bag. The clutch has decorations in relief with leather flowers, filigree, metal, and hard stones, just like the necklaces and bracelets. Wood inserts, colored stones, and python embellish the wedgies and sandals of the season. Suede and Lurex define the dancing model with laces that wrap around the ankle for a sexy romantic look.
Venezia: the Myth is back. “I dearly wanted to reinterpret one of my most successful fragrances by presenting the new version of VENEZIA. Its return was a long-awaited event and a tribute to the city that I adore. It was created at the request of thousands of women around the world who wanted to enjoy this unique fragrance once again. Margareth Madè, the new face of Italian Cinema, interprets the enchantment and seduction of Venezia” Laura Biagiotti.
